Donald R. Todd
Donald Todd has been a practicing attorney in Lexington for 50 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Transylvania University and his JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He’s been admitted to the US Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Claims and all courts within the Commonwealth. He primarily practices civil litigation with emphasis on workers’ compensation, personal injury and equine law. He’s an active member with the Kentucky Justice Association, Kentucky Workers Association, the American, Kentucky and Fayette County Bar Associations.
He was an assistant Fayette County Attorney for ten years directing prosecution of the jury trial division. He served four terms as a councilman for Lexington’s 12th District (horse farms and agricultural district) where he focused on land use planning and preservation of the horse farms. He helped develop Lexington’s first Rural Land Management Plan, Purchase of Development Rights Program and was actively involved in preservation of horse farms and green space. During his tenure on City Counsel, he was chairman of the Greenspace Commission and vice chair of the Budget and Finance Committee.
Together with his son Thomas, he has successfully handled numerous trial and appellate cases before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and Workers’ Compensation Board.
He is active in the thoroughbred industry operating a broodmare farm and represents farms and race track employees.
Don is married to Yvonne Todd, an equine artist and has three children, Ann Michele Ralston, Donald Robet Todd and Thomas Lee Todd.
